Portability
Portability allows voucher holders to move into a different housing authority's jursidiction.
You will need to complete a Request for Portability form and submit it to your current Housing Specialist. You can find who your current specialist is by visiting our Rental Assistance Client Assignments page.

You can take your voucher to any other housing authority in the country that administers a Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program. You can find a list of Public Housing Agencies (PHA's) on the HUD website.

The occupancy standards can vary at every housing authority. If you are currently in Thurston County and would like to port your voucher out to another jurisdiction, you will need to contact that housing authority to find out their standards.

If you want to move to Thurston County, you will first need to contact your current housing authority and inform them of your intent to port. They will tell you their steps to do that process.
